The Harvest is Ripe

Find out the miracle I experience today when I listened to the voice of God: Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation*

Today was a day of evangelism at our church. But let's just say, the day didn't quite go how I had expected.

Let's just say I didn't go out to evangelise with the person I had expected I would, I didn't go out in the area I thought I would or at the time I had planned. It was all thrown upside down. But just like everything with the Lord, everything works for the good of those who love Him (Romans 2:28).

We spoke to over 22 people and more than half were saved.

I ended up speaking out here in Borehamwood (a small village in the north of London), with one of my long-time friends. We thought we'll go in faith, despite the change of plan and let God do the rest. And He certainly did. We spent 3 hours walking up and down the same high street, running into people that were desperate to hear the gospel.

Each time we encountered someone, their eyes opened with curiosity. Their hearts were ready to receive. There was so much openness, I was shocked. And this certainly doesn't normally happen, so I instantly knew God was doing something different.

In all, we had intense, real conversations with over 22 people that were willing to listen and discuss. And out of those, more than half gave their life to Christ right before our eyes! They confessed with their mouths and received Jesus into their hearts. We were able to pray for each of them, and see them light up, see heaviness lift from their hearts and watch as their lives changed.

We had two muslims who gave their lives to Christ willingly. Atheists who were so eager to give up their beliefs and pick up the hope of Christ. Baptists and catholics who knew of God but never opened their hearts to him. There was this curiosity out there in these people that I'd never seen before, and no matter their background, Jesus penetrated it all.

The word of the day was easy.

The word of the day was easy. You cannot believe how easy it was. Easy to witness to them. Easy to answer their questions, easy to approach, to pray over them, to free them and how easy it was for them to listen, understand, to open their hearts and mouths and make this life-changing decision. Never in my life had I seen something so extravagant not only all at once in the space of 3 hours, but one after another and another and another.

This is not a coincidence. The harvest is ripe, and ready for picking. That means that the Lord has melted the hearts of many already. The people of the world are ready for the word, they are desperate for it, now more than ever before. So now we need to take this opportunity and help their hearts find Jesus. For “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38). This year God promised that more souls will come to Christ than ever before in history: do you want to be part of that movement?

Nothing is coincidence with God.

I'll be honest, at the end of the day my mind was starting to wander: Maybe we did something wrong, maybe we didn't witness correctly. Perhaps they didn't understand what they were doing, maybe we should have spent more time with each one. But the Holy Spirit then came and reminded me: have faith.

It is very easy to talk ourselves out of witnessing the supernatural. We can say, oh that was just a coincidence. Oh, it was just a special day today. That particular person had just happened to be here. It was luck. It was chance.

But that's the thing about our God: He is not a small God. He is powerful, mighty, just, faithful, merciful, loving, and He encompasses the very notion of existence. Nothing could be without Him. So then how can we sit and say that a man that had just been speaking to God that morning about his loneliness and inability to hear God's voice can suddenly come across people that know this very God personally. People that stand before Him and tell him he's loved and that Jesus wants to speak to Him today. Nothing is coincidence with God. For as Romans 11:36 says, "for from Him and through Him and to Him are all things".

God is the one who decides where everything goes and how it is laid out. For "the lot is cast onto the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord" (Proverbs 16:33).

So, if you don't know Christ, you can invite Him into your heart today and have Him change your very purpose on this Earth. Think of every moment that you called coincidence, now put God in front of it, and you'll see, maybe He's been speaking to you a lot more than you thought!

And if you are already saved, I pray over you now as you read this that you receive the boldness of the Lord and go out and speak. Tell all those that you meet of the goodness and love of the Lord. For the harvest is ripe, and it is ready for picking. Let's pick souls for the Lord and help bring them to salvation!

Pray this prayer today and receive the salvation of the Lord:

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you as I am: broken, hurt and human. I come and I confess with my mouth that you, Jesus, are the son of God who was sent to Earth to die for my sins and give me eternal life. I believe you were resurrected from the dead, that I am loved and I believe I am a child of God. I come today and ask that you come into my heart and wash me, cleanse me and renew me. I declare that today, through the blood of Jesus, I am a new creation. I make Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour and I invite you Lord into my heart and my life that I may have a relationship with you. In faith, I declare that I now have full access to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Thank you Jesus. Amen.
