The Sun’s Limit

A short poem inspired by the gratitude I feel to the Lord for His marvellous, intelligent limitations here on Earth.

I see now why the moon takes its place. Why you gave the sun a timer,

Why the light must dim itself away— The sun's rays were never meant

To flow on forevermore. One ray of sunshine is a fire

Yielding life with energy. Another is but scorched skin

Gifting death and fading colour.

You knew me too before I was created.

You knew all of my tendencies:

I splurge, I abuse, overuse and misjudge

Volatile in life along with dazes in death.

Thank you, oh Creator, for thinking ahead Thank you for the limitation upon which I’m made.
